I have owned a Nikon Coolpix electronic camera for slightly over 2 1/2 yrs. and in that duration of time I have taken over 3k footage. As I searched for cameras with greater zooms, there were 2 I liked the range of- both the Canon Pro1 aND the Dimage Minolta. The Dimage Minolta 7X optical zoom provides me a great range from wide angle to telephoto. Due to this wide range, it is feasible to make many alternative pictures with this excellent camera.
Another great feature that intrigued me to the Dimage Minolta was the anti-shake feature. A camera with a long zoom isn’t helpful if you can’t hold it steady enough to get a crisp picture. Regardless of the length of the zoom, the Dimage Minolta camera is surprisingly coNDenser and easily fits into my fanny pack which is precisely what I wanted.
Another feature that I really like about the Dimage Minolta is the adjustable LCD monitor which is much clearer than the one on my Nikon. This enables you to aim above your head or at a low angle and still see what you are shooting at. You can fold the LCD to where it’s facing the camera body to protect it and also take photographs by trying the EVF viewfinder. Which allows you use less battery power.
The Dimage Minolta LCD will also turn completely forward so you can do a self portrait by using the remote control to trip the shutter. The remote can also be effective for long exposures on a tripod like night shots. For dim lighting shots, it’s got noise cancellation to where it will take a second pic with the shutter closed to record any “hot spots” from the pixels and subtract them from the final picture so it is clearer and does not have all those white dots on it. I did this and it great night pics - in fact the Dimage Minolta took the best low light photographs I have gotten with any camera I have took pictures with.
The time between shots it pretty quick. Faster than my Nikon certainly. It has manual or auto focus I used manual with it at infinity for my dim light pics since this like many auto focus cameras can have trouble focusing in low light situations. The macro may be employed at either the wide angle or telephoto ends of the zoom. I have not especially attempted that yet. Nor have I attempted the film format which is claimed to be glorious. There are 2 resolutions you may use for that.
I thought my little Nikon 4mp camera took nice photos, but the Dimage Minolta blows that away. It is simple enough for a novice to use it on “Auto” but has enough features to please most professionals too. I already have taken several photographs with this camera. They are very sharp - from the wide angle through telephoto. This camera fit my needs and then some - with all the options possible this camera offers. If your really serious about photography and yet need to keep it simplistic, the Dimage Minolta is a good camera!
Observe I have not debated the eight mega-pixels the Dimage Minolta has. The reason behind that is because it wasn’t a issue for my purchase and delight for this camera. Four mega-pixels is a lot for most uses especially since most users will not be making prints larger than eight x 10. But this camera certainly gives you that chance.
I am crazy about this camera! The photo is what the eye sees, and the Dimage Minolta will help you to catch what you see with simplicity. I think it is worth every penny!

Okay, let’s get started and let’s get to grips with most of the everyday tools you’ll be using.
Leveling Your Image by Cropping: No photographer, whether amateur or professional, gets their images perfect the first time around. As a matter of fact, from what I have learned, 95% of the people who use either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements do so in order to correct the images they have taken. After taking your photos you undoubtedly will find that there could have been things done to enhance the photo or things you would want to change if you could redo the shot. Whether it was zooming, cropping or rotating the photo, you undoubtedly might have done it better if you had a second chance.
Standard digital cameras have a ratio of 4:3 (4 units wide by 3 units high) which means the typical print size is 6×4, which is a ratio of 3:2 (3 units wide by 2 units high). To increase or decrease this you can use the aspect ratio dialog box.
If you need to crop your image or photo to a specific size you can. Just open up the aspect ratio dialogue and to do this you need to click on image then crop. If you look at the top you’ll see a width and a height box and you can work these in inches or centimetres. For inches just type in “in” and for centimetres just type in “cm”.
Because Photoshop Elements automatically re-samples your image when you open it I usually never enter anything in the resolution box.
